Pam Robertson

Renee - Wendy Quinault
Vera - Kate Phinn
Sylvie - Rhona Frood
Olive Madison - Margaret Thomas

Notes:
Olive Madison is divorced and living in cheerful chaos in her New York apartment. At Olive's invitation her friend Florence Ungar, newly separated from her husband, moves in. It soon becomes clear that the patterns of their disastrous marriages are being repeated!!
In this updated version of the classic Neil Simon comedy, The Odd Couple, the action takes place in 1980s New York. Roles are reversed with women as the main characters, Trivial Pursuit instead of poker as the leisure activity and two charismatic Spanish guys as the romantic interest living in the upstairs apartment.

Notes:
This production has been very much a collaborative effort with all members of the cast and crew contributing to its development. From my point of view as Director this has been invaluable and I believe it has also been of benefit to the overall performance. I am very grateful to all the members of cast and crew for their enthusiasm in helping to create this show, one which is a bit different from the usual type of production staged by the Play Club.
In this version of Whisky Galore the story is told as a radio broadcast in front of a "live" audience. The challenge with a script such as this is that there is no direction about the dramatic elements - how to bring it to life. The fun part is creating these elements ourselves. I hope you agree that we have produced a show which remains faithful to the story and spirit of Whisky Galore.
12/11/2009-21/11/2009 - The Memory of Water
Written by:
Selagh Stephenson
Directed by:
Wendy Quinault
Cast:
Mary - Margaret Thomas
Teresa - Janet Richardson
Catherine - Nathalia Smith
Mike - Gary Thompson
Frank - Kenny Lindsay
Notes:
In the best tradition of black humour, Shelagh's play reveals death can often show the absurdity of life. When three sisters gather together at their childhood home on the eve of their mother's funeral, laughter and tears ensue in equal measure. As each of the sisters struggle to come to terms with their loss, childhood battle lines are unearthed and redrawn, memories are disputed and reinvented, life choices are analysed, and grief gives way to giggling fits and drunken hilarity.
The Memory of Water is at the Byre Theatre from Thursday 12th November to Saturday 21st November nightly at 7.30 pm with Saturday Matinees at 2.30 pm. There are no shows on Sunday 15th and Monday 16th. Audio description available on Matinee, Saturday 21st.
Tickets : £9 & £8 concessions.

The family reunion, the pile of brightly wrapped presents; a children's puppet show and a Boxing Day tea; paper hats; crackers and streamers; around the base of the gaily decorated tree an extramarital relationship; a couple of stray gunshots in the hall. All the ingredients for a traditional Christmas!

Notes:
The Deep Blue Sea tells the story of Hester Collyer who has tried and failed to commit suicide. Some time before, she left her husband, a respectable High Court Judge, for a semi-alcoholic former R.A.F. pilot. The relationship was physical and passionate but his ardour has cooled, leaving her emotionally stranded and desperate. The aftershocks of her attempted suicide unravel even the remnants of this relationship, but by the end she is brought to a hard decision to live, partly through the intercession of another resident of the tenement house, Mr. Miller.
